“Everybody walks past a thousand story ideas every day. The good writers are the ones who see five or six of them. Most people don’t see any.”  – Orson Scott Card

Hello all. Wishing you a warm welcome. This week I celebrate the outdoors with a new book promo, share some ear and eye candy and more …

1.  I am reading A Gift of Happiness by Gill Farrer-Halls a great book to peruse when looking for peace and solitude. The art is fantastic, by Artist and writer Robert Beer, well-known for his colourful and detailed illustrations.

2. Culture Days is a national celebration of arts and culture, taking place annually at the end of each September. This year’s events will be a little different, as many will be virtual and it will run longer. Running from September 25 to October 25th, highlighting thousands of free, participatory arts and culture events in hundreds of communities across Canada.

This week I spent time making a virtual presentation for The Writers Community of York Region, a video of me reading from my book Samba on a Snowy Day, and my soon to be released book, Samba in Brazil.

3. For the children and parents, a link to a book promotion that gets underway this week; Picture Books Celebrating the Outdoors,  and I share the link with you so you can enjoy an assortment of fun children’s books, including Samba on a Snowy Day.

Promo Link: Celebrating Nature and the Outdoors

I have added the link in the title above as well as in the Promo Photo. All you have to do to get my book is to provide your e-mail. I then add you to my newsletter and that keeps you in the loop for more great things to come.

4. Watching some inspirational talks on how children are coping in these pandemic times, “talking to children about our new normal“. While working on my writing I found this podcast very helpful and informative. Communication seems to be one of the key factors. On what adults can do to keep it together while offering support and staying connected, check out this CBC podcast The Dose.

5. I remember when, not too long ago, we could venture outdoors to take in the local music festivals. This year all the live music festivals have been cancelled. Most of them have figured out some kind of virtual format. This week I managed to check into the Toronto Jazz Festival on web radio jazz.fm91, the Beaches Jazz Festival by streaming a live concert and the Toronto Summer Music Festival.

Thanks for reading, if you think someone you know would like my newsletter please share it with them. If you’re looking for a great children’s book check what Readers’ Favorites reviewers say about my book, Samba on a Snowy Day

Please consider a contribution to our next book project by buying me a coffee, swing by Ko-fi.com. Every coffee helps out during these challenging times.
