A Week In My Life

A weekly newsletter that gives you 5 personal interests that I share with you.

1. This week I celebrate the birth of Roald Dahl, September 13, 1916. Every September 13th, I honour this master storyteller, by reading one of his books, this year it’s The Witches. Dahl’s books are great at any age and illustrator Quentin Blake adds fun visuals that bring the stories to life; he has a wonderful freestyle technique. Sir Blake is one of the motivating forces behind the Everybody  School of Art – Artworks in England.

My book, Samba on a Snowy Day is going on sale starting next week. Good news, Chapters Indigo is going to have some of the paperbacks available in the stores.

2. TIFF, Toronto International Film Festival continues through the week. Some of the best bets, and movies I want to see; Nomadland, One Night in Miami and Concrete Cowboy, all look like winners.

3. Eye candy that I plan to get out and witness in person, as recommended by one of my daughters, Immersive Van Gogh.

Adrianna moved to dance to Van Gogh.

If you can’t make it to one of the towns that Immersive Van Gogh is showing in, you can always do the virtual Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands.

4. My sonic soundscape is all about the blues – especially the harmonica players; Little Walter, Junior Wells, Big Walter, James Cotton, Paul Butterfield, John Mayall and Big Mama Thornton. In this clip, she is joined by some of the greats.

And this week also found me jamming with my girls.

5. Lots of people in Canada and around the world are concerned about the second wave of COVID; including me. I was recently recruited to teach martial arts at a couple of different places. For the moment I have declined, preferring to continue with outside classes for as long as the weather permits.

Further afield I found this bit of interesting news; life on our nearest, sister planet, Venus. For you science fiction fans this should get the creative phosphine flowing.
