Hello all and a warm welcome to you. In this weeks journal, Children’s shows, books, activities and more…

1. My featured photo is of book 2 in “The Samba Dog” series Samba in Brazil which is included in this month’s free book giveaway. I join a group of award-winning authors in this wonderful winter readathon.

2. “Frozen” is a Disney feature based on the classic fable “The Snow Queen” an original fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.

Another show featured on the Disney channel is “Mandolorian“, based on Star Wars. Mandolorian is from creator Jon Favreau and I really like this show. I like Favreau’s other show too, The Chef Show.

The Mandolorian series has many of the Star Wars influences but is done up in an exciting manner with great fight scenes reminiscent of some classic westerns and plenty of Japanese samurai influences.

3. Outdoor activities are great for children and adults alike. This week my family spent time walking on trails, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, sledging, tobogganing and outdoor cross country training.

4. My music this week is all about Steve Winwood. Winwood was in the supergroup “Blind Faith”, he went on to form “Traffic” and had quite the solo career.

I also discovered Winwood has a daughter, Lilly, check out Lilly performing “Higher Love” with her father in 2018.

5. What I’m reading this week: for daytime reading, Mugai Ryu Battoujutsu Instruction- Tosho Shiokawa. My evening read is The Four Agreements: A Toltec Wisdom Book by Don Miguel Ruiz
