Rampage
by Paul J. Yanuziello 7/18.
(Written shortly after the mass shooting on the Danforth, commonly known as Greektown, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.)
What sets a tone of fire that races out of control
Wild beasts in the forest run from danger
fight or flight an old instinctual habit
Played out in modern times
A Greek tragedy unfolds in Greektown
Blood and tears mix with rage and fear
A rampage in the concrete jungle
a misguided animal with a gun
Remember the fallen good and bad
Lest we forget why we are spared
To spread the words of love and compassion
through deeds of selflessness
And kindness!
