My Monthly Journal

Hello all, and welcome to a new year of my writing life. This month, a little bit of paradise and the five things that have brought me joy and happiness.

Caribbean Chronicles: A Month in Cahuita, Costa Rica

1. Adventures on Costa Rican Roads

Navigating Costa Rica’s roads brings back memories of Italian driving adventures! While dodging tolls adds to the journey, the scenic routes reveal hidden gems of this tropical paradise. The comparison to Italy’s chaotic roads brings a smile – if you’ve conquered Italian streets, Costa Rica’s highways feel like a breeze.

2. Cultural Immersion in Bri Bri Territory

The indigenous Bri Bri village tour offered profound insights into Costa Rica’s native heritage. Walking through their community, learning ancient traditions, and understanding their deep connection to the land creates lasting memories and cultural appreciation. Possibly even a future book on the last green iguana and the warrior who saved her.

3. Nature’s Symphony

  • Powerful waterfall experiences
  • Feeling the raw energy of cascading water
  • Natural massage from the falling water, the rolling waves are a pleasure too
  • The cool mist provides relief from the tropical heat
  • Natural pools reminiscent of a hot tub

4. Daily Beach Life & Wellness

  • Morning beach yoga sessions and  partner yoga – the photo is of Nina & me on Playa Negra
  • Regular workout routines with ocean views
  • Fresh farmer’s market treasures
  • Incredible tropical fruits at peak ripeness – delicious

 5. Wildlife & Writing Rituals

  • Respectful of all the wildlife while enjoying observation in their natural habitat
  • Morning writing sessions
  • Ocean breeze inspiration
  • The perfect balance of activity and creativity

Each day in Cahuita brings new discoveries, from the simplicity of fresh fruit to the complexity of indigenous culture, creating a perfect blend of adventure, wellness, and personal growth.
