‘Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.’
Albert Einstein (1879 -1955)
Hello all, welcome to my weekly journal. A place for me to share with you five points of interest. Things that got me through the week with a sense of wonder and joy.
The featured photo is of an adversary of Scratchy the Squirrel, it’s from my new children’s book Scratchy the Squirrel: A Time for Friends, illustrations by Joshua Miller.
1. This week I enjoyed celebrating composer John Williams 90th birthday. What an incredible life, amazing achievements, fantastic music and sharing it with all of us.
John Williams, awards are simply mind-blowing.
2. Listening to John Williams compositions including Schindler’s List and stretching out to include his talented family members, Percussionist Don Williams, percussionist Jerry Williams and John Williams son Joseph, the rock band Toto’s frontman, vocalist.
Speaking of Toto brought me to reminisce about one of my favorite drummers, Jeff Porcaro who was one of the founding members of the rock band Toto.
Jeff Porcaro passed away young, he was 38 years old, he died from an allergic reaction to a bee sting, while he was mowing the lawn at his home in Los Angeles, California.
3. Watching the Mandolorian on Disney and enjoying the follow up by Jon Favreau, The Book of Boba Fett. I love the Japanese samurai influence.
Checking out the 2022 Oscar nods, I have seen a couple of the films and look forward to watching some more of these nominated films.
4. I am reading Michael Connelly at night, The Law of Innocence, a fast-paced thriller – with the Lincoln lawyer character Mickey Haller.
Reading my new sword study book Mugai Ryu Battoujutsu Instruction – The mastery of Tosho Shiokawa, during the days, this will be a lifetime reference book of sword technique by Shiokawa sensei, one of my teachers.
My winter book fair is coming to an end, take advantage of some great reads including my e-book Samba in Brazil.
5. Practising my audible performance of Scratchy the Squirrel: A Time for Friends.
Should I make an audible book so that even more people can have a chance to enjoy this fun adventure story?
Thank you for reading, if you think someone you know would like to read my newsletter please share it with them.
If you are looking for a great children’s book check out one of my books, including Scratchy the Squirrel: A Time for Friends, Samba in Brazil; Paperback version, on sale for a limited time. And the Portuguese version, Samba no Brasil, is now available as a set.
Or one of my other books, Samba on a Snowy Day or the Brazilian/ Portuguese version Samba em um Dia de Neve.
