‘Winter snow falls,
Each flake in its perfect place.
Nothing missing.
Nothing extra.’
Zen Master Dogen Zenji
Hello all, and welcome to my monthly journal and writer’s life update. I’m coming to you early because I don’t want you to miss out on a promotion happening now.
This month, all through December, I am participating in a fantastic promotion that includes two of my books and many other children’s authors who are featuring their books.
1. Children’s Book Promotion: My early reader chapter book Scratchy the Squirrel: A Time For Friends, Book 1 in the Blue Mountain series. The promotion has a special offer for e-book pricing on Amazon.
My early reader chapter book is now available as part of the Children’s & Middle-grade Book Fair for December.
***Perfect for emerging readers*** Reviewed by Emily-Jane Hills Orford for Readers’ Favorite
The story is engaging, entertaining, and educational. It is packed with powerful messages about friendship and helping others in need. I loved it!
Building confidence through engaging stories and endearing characters.
2. Also, as part of the same promotion, my Middle-Grade Special Offer
Dojo in The Woods, my novel – chapter book promotion, is running on the Children’s & Middle-grade Book Fair for December
The promotion has a special offer for e-book pricing on Amazon.
This is a limited-time discount for young readers seeking holiday adventures in stories.
3. Book Festival Wrap-Up
I participated in my final festival appearance of 2024 at the Link Winter Market in Sutton. This was a great opportunity to meet young readers and their families.
Signing books and sharing stories were just some of my highlights from that awesome event.
Of course, connecting with fellow authors is always a treat, discussing some of the hot topics of the writer’s life, such as what to do during the holiday season. Snow mountains and snowboarding or beaches and snorkeling?
4. Looking ahead to 2025, do we make resolutions this year or set intentions?
Exciting new projects are being developed for the new year, including a couple of additions to the existing book series.
Then there’s the book festivals and event schedule planning. I had such a great time at the 2023 Creemore Arts Festival, and it was unfortunate I missed it last year due to some scheduling conflicts or missteps. I am eagerly looking forward to the 2025 version of the festival.
The Thornbury Farmers Market, where I represented the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts (BMFA), was a fantastic event that I hope to return to. There were so many amazing events and opportunities to meet great folks, including many book lovers.
Writing goals and deadlines is the pressure you put on yourself to complete the tasks to fulfill your intentions.
Implementing a marketing strategy is tough for a writer; it’s more about learning and finding the best strategy for you. Plus, you must be aware of the challenges, budget constraints, and tactful advertising ads.
5. Current Works in Progress: The next addition to the Blue Mountain book series is in development. Manuscript revisions for the next book in the Samba Dog series are almost complete. Cover design collaboration is in consideration for both projects. Release date and schedule planning are not necessarily in that order.
Stay tuned for more updates, and follow my social media channels for daily writing life snippets and special announcements!
Thanks for reading. If you know of someone who may be interested in this Monthly Journal, please share. Be sure to check out my newest book, Life on the Beaver River, an early reader chapter book. I also have a new children’s picture book, Samba in Switzerland. All my books are readily available online through your favorite bookstores.
Be well, stay safe, and keep reading and writing.
