My Monthly Journal – June 2025

Summer is here, the flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and all is warm and fuzzy.

In this month’s journal, I’ll share details about my next event, a 50th birthday celebration for the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, as well as the full bloom of festival season, summer fun, and more.

1.  The BMFA, Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. As a member, I’ve been invited to highlight my art, which, of course, is the writing in my children’s books. The event will take place this Saturday, June 28th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Over 60 vendors will take over Simcoe Street and Tremont Lane in Collingwood, Ontario. You’ll find me on Tremont Lane at Booth #31, where all my books will be available for purchase at special festival prices. Come on out and say hello!

2. Another group that I belong to is the Wasaga Beach Writers Club. Earlier this week, we had our last meeting before the summer break. The meeting was well-attended, and I had the opportunity to read three chapters from my new manuscript. An early reader chapter book in the Blue Mountain series, this will be book number three and follows the adventures of Willy Weasel as he tries to change his life. The writers enjoyed my storytelling, as evidenced by their positive comments and a warm round of applause.

One of the club’s writers had her two-act play performed by a group of the writers. This was quite enjoyable—a fun family affair, great acting, and some very funny moments. We ended the evening with a social gathering, light snacks, and talk of writerly things.

3. Summer is always festival time outdoors. This year, I plan to attend the Montreal Jazz Festival from June 30 – July 3.  A short stay in Montreal and a chance to see and hear extraordinary musical acts.

I have already taken in one day of Luminato at Harbourfront in Toronto, Ontario. They featured dance, music, a circus, and the tall ships of the harbourfront.

Looking ahead, I hope to take in the Collingwood Music Festival, Symphony in the Barn, and the Sweetwater Music Festival.

4. I have added to my Patreon page (patreon.com/PaulYanuziello). In case you haven’t checked it out, here are some free member stories available: “The Samurai and the Dragon King” and “Story of Sonny“—something I created while facilitating an online Creative Writing Course for children during lockdown.

5. Summer events are in full swing. I plan to do lots of hiking at Devil’s Glen and Lion’s Head, as well as a few other nearby hiking routes. And canoeing—getting out on the water, discovering some calm parts of Georgian Bay and the Beaver River, where My Blue Mountain Early Readers Chapter books take place. I may even see Billy Beaver during my travels!

However you plan to spend the summer, stay safe, stay well-read, and keep on going.

As summer blooms in the Blue Mountains, I’m excited to share more adventures, both written and lived. Whether you’re a fellow writer, a martial artist, or simply someone who loves a good story, I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

Thank you for reading. If you know of someone who may be interested in this Monthly Journal, please share. Be sure to check out my newest book, Life on the Beaver River, an early reader chapter book.  All my books are readily available online through your favorite bookstores.

Be well, stay safe, and keep reading and writing.
